The Trust Factor

In my prayer time today, God revealed something to me. One of the things I was thinking and praying about was for a friend who was not really worried about their finances, but had been thinking about it enough to bring it up. The tone in their voice told me that they weren’t worried about the Lord providing, but maybe the how to of it all. Anyway, in that moment, God spoke to me and said, “Many can trust me for the blessings of what I can do, but I want you to reach a point in your walk that you rest in me not only for what I can do, but for who I am. Have a trust in me that is so complete, that whether I bless or not, you desire to walk with me. Knowing that I will bless because I am your Father but come to a point that you don’t concern yourself with the “how to’s”. Instead, you are able to truly “be”. That state will take you to a deeper level of trust, which will bring you to a deeper level of peace. In these last days, my children will have to have that kind of trust to move forth in this world. Very uncertain times are on the horizon and if their trust has not been tested through the fire, they will die.”

He then took me to Acts 5. In the first verse, it talks about how Ananias and Sapphira had sold a piece of property and were to take all of the proceeds to the apostles and put it at their feet. After both agreeing on an amount, Ananias took some of the money for himself and took the rest of the money to Peter and laid it at his feet. Peter knew what he had done and questioned each of them about it. They each lied about it and in the end, died at the apostoles feet.

When I first read this, I wasn’t sure what God was trying to show me. I was actually trying to figure out in my own mind what had I taken from God or lied to him about. What He was trying to say is, that it goes back to the “trust” factor. Ananias and Sapphira didn’t fully trust the apostles or the Lord, or they wouldn’t have done what they did. If their trust was fully in the Lord, they would have known that He would’ve provided and made up for any loss they may have incurred as a result of giving their all. How deeply do you trust the Lord with your affairs?  The more you give Him, the deeper he’ll take you.  Proverbs 3:5 says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding”. –NIV It all boils down to trust.

Thanks for sharing Stephanie. I too believe now more than ever, we must rely on Him as our everything without doubt. Reminders are always good since we get so bogged down in daily activity. Let us all learn to truly “rest” in Him.
